End-to-end voice UI design for an ambient AI assistant embedded across smart-home devices.
Overview
Aria is an ambient voice assistant designed to feel invisible ??? always present but never intrusive. The project covered the full interaction layer: wake-word confirmations, error recovery, and screen-companion states on a companion app.
Process
We mapped 120+ voice interaction scenarios into a dialogue flow library, then prototyped each with real speech synthesis to test with 22 participants over 4 usability rounds.
Outcome
Error recovery interactions dropped by 41% after the redesigned disambiguation flows. The companion app earned a 4.7-star average in beta.
