The Challenge

The existing boAt companion app had a 3.2 star rating, with reviews citing a confusing device setup process and an interface that felt unrelated to the hardware product.

My Approach

I redesigned the app around two core jobs: device setup and daily personalisation. A dark-mode-first design language mirrored the hardware aesthetic. Device pairing was trimmed from 14 steps to 4, with animated transitions signalling progress. Contextual controls surfaced only when a connected device was present.

The Impact

The redesigned app reached a 4.8 star App Store rating within three months of launch. Reviews specifically highlighted the setup experience, with over 1,200 five-star reviews mentioning ease of pairing in the first month.
