The Challenge

HealthSync clinicians were spending an average of five hours at the end of each shift completing patient charting ??? a fragmented process spread across three separate tools with constant context switching.

My Approach

I spent two days shadowing clinicians during end-of-shift charting and mapped every tool switch, re-entry of repeated data and form field that was designed for completeness rather than speed. I redesigned charting as a single unified workspace with smart defaults, context-aware fields and a bulk-review mode for common case types.

The Impact

End-of-shift charting time dropped from an average of five hours to 22 minutes ??? an 85% reduction. Clinicians at the pilot site reported the redesign as the single biggest quality-of-life improvement in their workflow in years.
